Why I was once more than a year ago the last time in a Tosca idea? Last night was a blast and it was definitely one of the performances of the year - even though that sounds kind of ridiculous given the date.

The cast was almost perfect! Miriam Gordon-Stewart, until recently still an ensemble member in Hamburg, as Tosca was in the second and third act, just awesome. In Hamburg, it was not necessarily my favorite singers in the first act I found it sometimes a bit affected, sometimes vocally somehow supercooled, but the scene in Scarpia's office and all what followed, such a thoughtful, intelligent and exciting interpretation was itself: it has not only vocally much good stuff and showed real lot, but has a precise gestures and facial expressions somehow something like a zoom effect created. Pure goose bumps! Her lover Cavaradossi alias Eduardo Aladrén stood by her in anything. On the contrary, he came on stage, opened his mouth and Zack have positioned the hairs on my arm in the vertical. He has a vocal color I love it! Matthias Klein as Scarpia was also a real blast! He has finished singing while not every sound as 100% has, but which by its interpretation and Stimmgewaltigkeit again more than offset. The baton of Stephen Tetzlaff was new to me, logically, emotionally, voluminous yet differentiated rattling. In short: pure excitement!

The staging of Gregory Horres had was really in their sinister minimalism certainly has its moments, especially the final scene very impressive in terms of interior design, lighting and directing people. Also, the "Va Tosca" was staged exciting: it fit like hand in glove, that the church floor rises and reaches a mass execution, including the daylight. However, the production has really torn me now from stool: the followers as Scarpia Nazis with historical (armbands - here white) and current (baseball bat) to provide costume items, you can, but you must not do and the image of Attavanti in the church I was frankly terrible.
