Yesterday there was a sold-out resumption of the opera Parsifal in Hamburg. It was only the 28th Idea since the premiere in 1991 - and frankly I can understand it, why this production is played so often ....
But let's start with the positives: the occupation! Draft horse and singer-star of the evening was certainly Klaus Florian Vogt as Parsifal. Some may not like his voice - but I already did and that they also last night. Angela Denoke since I have seen them in Berlin as Salome in the Linden Opera was, for me anyway NEN stone in the board and also Wolfgang Koch as Amfortas, Wilhelm Schwinghammer as Titurel, Peter Rose as Gurnemanz, Antonio Yang as Klingsor and Simone Young, with its Philharmonic were really in the matter. But overall, the applause was not particularly effusive now - rather something like gratitude. Some selected Bravi, no boos.
And now for the staging (Robert Wilson): it was its idea actually is not soooo bad, and there were also some very aesthetic still images, but the whole thing has abgenudelt quickly and overall I was the stage sometime deadly bored. Moreover, in addition to various staging were intrinsic to moves of the singer some Elements funny really unintentionally: above all the oversized salt crystal from the nearest Eso-Laden in the first act and the chorus in black full-body condoms with tip in the third act: the were really funny, because, by their window could see hardly anything, and so tapernd are bounced into each other. Conclusion: only because of Parsifal is listed as rare and because of the occupation, it is worth the way to Hamburg. But once it arrives too ... ..
